NO MORE WIRE HANGERS

HAHAHA!  For any of those who have seen "Mommy Dearest" will understand my title today!

Anyways, we have a service that picks up Jake's shirts for work and brings them back.  No I am not rich... I just feel that spending $25-30 a month so I don't have to wash, iron, starch all of his shirts is so worth it!  I hate ironing!  They even mend buttons that are coming off or have popped off.  Can't beat that.  However,  we have a pile of wire hangers and plastic bags that is ridiculous!  So I just found out that those recycle bins in the vestibule of the supermarkets that take shopping bags also accept dry cleaning bags so you bet your booty I'll be packing those up soon to take out there!  That leaves me with a ton of wire hangers though...  So I thought about a project I could do with them.  (I'd like to find more too so if you have any suggestions let me know!)

Since the Christmas lights and decorations are all down and it looks a little gloomy at night I thought about finding some lighted hearts to put in the window.  I looked all over and just couldn't find anything that looked just right.  Then the light bulb went off in my head...  wire hangers + unused red Christmas lights =  Hearts for the window!

So this is what I started with:

At the time I started it I wasn't sure how many hangers I would need.  I had many different thoughts going through my head on how to make it but I wasn't sure exactly until I started untwisting and straightening!

I ended up only using 2 hangers per heart.  The shaped wire heart looks like this:

I took one box of lights and started wrapping them around the wire.  I started at the bottom and worked my way around:   (Jack was very interested in what I was doing!)

I just kept wrapping and wrapping.  I was able to make it around the heart twice before I decided to let the rest hang down so I would have a place to plug it in.  Finished heart:

Like I stated earlier I made 2 because I had 2 boxes of lights.  If I had more I would have probably made 1 more.  I would have liked to be able to put one outside by my front door but I guess that leaves me more hangers to do more projects!!!  Here are the finished hearts:

I will add another picture of them in my window when its dark out.  You can't tell now what they really look like!  I think they turned out pretty good!

If you need wire hangers I've got plenty to spare!   Tomorrow I will show you my finished project that I did for my dad!  I think it turned out awesome for my first attempt at mod podge!

Until tomorrow!
